'tis the season for people to move house....
yesterday was the hard-work day, where i became the "little nyonya", "professional movers", "interior designer" as well as the "domestic maid". haha.
my cousin, kak aida, moved from her parents house to her own house yesterday. so the couple engaged us the cousins to become the movers. yea, the 5 of us me, my bro, my sis, rasyid and hafiz and not forgeting the chief movers, kak ina and abg mas suryadi. haha. together we are the Cousin Movers. haha. so now let me tell u a little story...
we start the day at 10.30, met up at YCK mrt to go to yishun. we walked from yishun mrt to my aunt's place as it was near. but as we were busy gossipping, we didn't realised we took the long route instead. then while walking, we saw lots of water apple trees. its a very nice fruit. go search if u want to know how it looks like. and so i asked rasyid to go pluck some as it looks so delicious on those trees. then we happily stroll to my aunt's place, eventhough we were fasionably late. haha.
as soon as me, sis and rasyid the place, all the cupboards and and stuffs were already outside the house. i was surprised that, for a room, her my cousin's belongings are quite plenty. its like moving the whole house instead of just a room. haha. and as a habit, once we reached the house, we will straight away go into the kitchen cos that's where my aunt is usually. and true enough, she was cooking for the dinner at her daughter's new place tonight. she wants to cook alot of stuff fro a few guest, but she's the only one doing. her 1st daughter is already at her new house while her second daughter has already left with the fiance to fetch the lorry and her 3rd child has not yet reached puberty to help out in the kitchen. so its up to us, the sisters to help out. as soon as she saw us, she say "good u people are here. ima come help me stir the food in the pot. lina come help me cut the onions." and so we become little nyonyas, preparing food in the kitchen. haha.
and when everybody's reached and done with lunch, we started the moving. we started moving the heavy stuffs like the cupboards and dressing table. those stuffs a freaking heavy laa. lucky there's the boys, including abg mas suryadi. haha. and when the lorry is fully loaded, the boys and my sis went over to the new place to help out, while me and rasyid help out kak ina in cleaning out the rooms at yishun. i psycho-ed her to move into the now vacant room that her sis had used before. me and rasyid were giving her ideas where to put what furniture and so on. the interior designers almost won, but the big boss, our aunt had to step in, with HER ideas. so we just kept quiet and do our things. had fun fixing the bed with rasyid. 1st time do all those stuff.
and for the 1st time also, i witnessed the stuffs that these people have. from the many tables, matresses, TV sets and also baju kurungs. will u belive me that before the move, my grandmother slept on under 4 matresses?? and in my aunt's from, they had an unfixed small table ontop of the cupboard, as well as under the bed and also a few around the house and in other rooms. and also the amount of baju kurung they had, they can easily open a shop and sell nice baju kurungs. and in each room, its a must to have a TV set. they stay in 4 room flat but they have at least 6 TV sets. totally shocking.
after we moved the cupboards and beds and tables into her new room, its my job to move the clothes over. and for the 1st time i had to fold other people's underwear besides my family's. haha. i had to move kak ina's clothes to her new room and also her sisters clothes from the parents room to the other room, where she will sleep with my grandmother. and let me tell you something, for a primary 3 kid, her clothes a plenty, and her panties are kinky too. gross. and we can't stop laughing when we saw kak ina's bra collection. and rasyid has to frequently ask, "i just don't get it. why u girls need so many bras for??" haha.
amd when the boys are back, we helped them with the boxes pulak. its like i had to multitask you know. and in this 2nd trip, my mum and rasyid's mum followed, bringing the food over as well. the funny part is when they left the sambal in the lorry. both aunties sat infront, with the bags, and yet they still can forget. the aunties at sembawang already started panincking and the aunty at yishun started making noise about her hard work getting lost. total madness. and during all the commotion, abang mas suryadi and my sis happily took the sambal back to yishun again and only bringing it on the 3rd trip.
and after the second trip, my sis came back with a really funny story. she overheard at sembawang kak aida talking to her friends about how the room color was purple and her husband wanted to paint it some other color. she kept on going that she had wanted the purple and he doesn't want the purple. and in frustration, her husband, abang beb burst "purple is pondan you know!!" and that comment left the wife speechless. when we heard the story, the whole house in yishun burst out laughing. and the best part, when we were clearing the last of her stuffs, we foung her enlarged wedding photo. and guessed what was the color of the wedding baju?? PURPLE. i saw it 1st and quickly showed it to kak ina. and the both of us laughed like mad women. haha. and in case u don't know, pondan is malay for gay. and so we kept repeating purple is pondan, and rasyid had to write it on post it notres and stick it randomly on thr boxes and the dressing table. joke of the day man.
and when all the stuffs are brought over, its time to move the people pulak. haha. we finished everything around 7 plus. the rooms in yishun is halfway done. but we were excited about the new house so we forced kak ina to do her room tomorrow. while waiting for her, we joked and laughed at the living room, young and old interacting. had fun laughing at abang mas suryadi, him being the driver as well as the mover. haha. and when all is done, we finally went to sembawang, having a pit stop at admiralty 1st to pick up another aunt with a soldiers of cousins as well as my grandma. haha.
when we reached sembawang, its all chaos. with the aunties chatter, the kids' noise and the hungry boys. haha. the house is windy. nice place. we sat until 10, when the aunties make noise complaining tiredness when all they did was to carry the food in the lorry. cuteness. but kak ina wasn't going to let go of me and sis that easily. she told my mum that she needed help in cleaning the sembawang house pulak, since kak aida sparained her neck. since my uncle is coming back to sembawang after sending the aunties home, we had to stay and wait for my uncle to come back and then abang mas suryadi will send us home. and so i became the domestic maid, help cleaning the food table as well as kak aida's and abang beb's wardrobes. i, maria washed the dishes while richard, abang mas suryadi helped wipe the table. haha. and after that, i had to witness another collection of bras. 1st it was bikinis and bras. then it was maternity bras and bikinis and bras. by the end of the day, i was traumatised. haha. and playing with my niece after so long surely is fun, except the part where she bounced up and down on my already cramped stomach.
we left the house at 1 am, with the kids being forced to bed and the maids tired and worn out. richard happily slept on the bed when we were sorting the wardrobe. tsk.
and yea we have a new water heater!!! haha. so that was my day yesterday, being a multitasked girl, witnessing all sorts of things. haha. it was a different feeling altogether when i moved house almost 10 years ago. must go and think why. haha.
okay gonna go date mr jam now. see ya!!
